There is a noticeable trend at the moment for bloggers to use a magazine or newspaper style in their templates for their sites. This is because some of the most attractive and successful blogs out there are based on this exact same ethos. The Huffington Post, for example, reads like a newspaper online. If anyone has an eZine or some kind of current affairs content that is regularly updated, having the newspaper or magazine style attached to their blog will do them a massive benefit. People will flock to the blog because they will know they are getting fresh news in a great looking format. The sheer number of different and readable sections means that search engines will be able to find relevant and attractive content much quicker than they normally would. Everyone wins, in other words.

When you want to have the most efficient looking blog template that you can have, it is always worthwhile looking for one of the many minimalist templates tat fill the ranks of blog directories that are currently in vogue on the Internet. These particular templates are very effective in tat they are clean, crisp looking templates, favoured by institutions who want to bring a businesslike feel to their dealings online. Having a crisp and efficient feel to your blog means that the reader has no distractions, and feels like what they are reading is serious. The Light WordPress Theme certainly falls into this category, due to the fact that it has pretty much nothing on it other than a few choice colours and a great looking three column style.

Simple Blue

The trend for very simple WordPress template designs continues, with more and more developers feeling the need to strip down their basic template ideas, and instead deliver what are essentially content vehicles. This is very much the case with the Simple Blue WordPress Theme. This template is very much just what you might think it is when you hear the title. It is simple, and it is blue. That’s it.

However, this is no bad thing. The simplicity of the template makes it one of the more attractive templates around. It has no flashy graphics, which often turn out to be obtrusive anyway. It also does not suffer from an excess of colour in the layout, which often means that a template is too much for the human eye to take in.

As regards the technical aspects, it is a three column theme, which means that it has two sidebars, offering a ton of functionality. A lot is built in, due to the fact that the developer wants to include =basic meta data functions. However, one sidebar is completely open to the inclusion of widgets, which means that Simple Blue can be turned into a superlative, if simple, user experience.

There is an emerging trend that has appeared of late that has brought into being a number of blogs that are very much like magazines in the way they look and the general feel of the blog. These blogs are based on templates that literally have a magazine look. Plain Text Blog

It is hard to believe that there are so many simplistic templates out there for blogs, but the truth is actually a lot deeper than one would first think. However, the minimalist design has never been taken to extremes, until now that is. There is a WordPress Theme called Plain Text, and it is quite incredible, for one main reason. It is quite possibly the plainest and most simplistic WordPress template that you could possibly ever come across.

The title of the template pretty much sums up the work you see when you first download the theme. In fact, the entire screen is populated by a simple section of text, some of it in different size fonts and styles, but nevertheless very much all plain text.

It is all css, in fact. The sheer lack of images is quite disconcerting at first, but after a while there seems to be a kind of logic at work. The three column template has to rely entirely on content, so if you do run a blog that has a lot of text on it (one for writers, for example) then you have a good vehicle with Plain Text. This is an intriguing template.

If you run a business that is small you may require a website that has an unobtrusive but highly effective interface. It is true that you have to make things as imple as possible when you are running a business, because your clients and customers will want things to be as accessible as possible. The problem is that there are not an amazing amount o WordPress templates out there.

Revolution Code Blue wordpress theme is a clean and simple WP design. Main content area is white and possitioned on the left. On the right side are two sidebars. The first one supports wordpres widgets and contains all the standard wp elements. The header background fades from dark to light blue. It contains the blog title and tagline. On the right side is a place holder for advertisment banner (468 pixels width x 60 pixels height). Above it are two RSS feed icons. The far right sidebar contains a list of recent posts. It would be a good location to place google adsense. Revolution Code Blue wordpress template was designed by Brian Gardner.

Plain Simple

The best designs seem to be minimalist ones these days, when it comes to WordPress. Some of the cleanest and simplest designs are now available as free templates, and anyone who wants to give their blog a makeover, or just to establish their business presence on the Internet, can now do so for free. The minimalist movement makes it easy for someone who wants to focus on content alone to make an impact quickly and easily. The WordPress Theme Plain Simple continues this trend. It is, as the name suggests, a perfect example of the minimalist school of design, and one that should serve any blogger very well if they have a lot to say.

It is a three column design, which means that the levels of functionality are very high. All you have to do to make the WordPress template instantly functional and much more valuable to your readership is to add widgets. This is totally enabled by one of the sidebars, which has complete functionality and compatibility in this area.

One neat touch in this template is the font style, which is small and unobtrusive, but also highly elegant. A very fitting template for a first time blogger.

One of the biggest social media success stories of recent times has been Facebook. This phenomenon has most of the world in its thrall, with a perfect platform upon which people can network with each other, and basically stay in touch with the people that they want to be friends with. A new WordPress Theme called Facebook mimics the site.

It is probably best suited to someone who loves the site and wants their blog to be stylistically linked to it in a big way. The WordPress template is three columns in size, and has a crisp feel to it.

The three columns allow for two sidebars rather than the more commonplace single sidebar that many bloggers are used to. This means that the blogger can place widgets into their blog that allow for a much greater level of functionality for their readers. If you are totally into your social networking for example, have a widget that allows you to instantly see Facebook or Twitter updates in your sidebar. A plug-in would take care of that in minutes. Also, photos and other social elements can be easily installed onto the blog. This is a great template for fans of Facebook.

Citrus Island

There are plenty of minimalist templates out there to choose from if you are a blogger wanting to make an impact with such a vehicle. The idea is that minimalism allows the content that the blogger wants to put to the fore to be noticed and read much more closely than it would if the WordPress Theme had lots of fancy graphics or an abundance of slow loading video. The Citrus Island WordPress template is definitely a minimalist theme, and one that manages to make a striking impact without having much to work with.

This is a three column template, and as such has an increased amount of functionality in that you can enable widgets on your blog. Widgets can bring a whole new experience to a blog, with reader being able to change some aspects of content to their own liking for example. OR a widget could be introduced for the blogger that enables them to collect email addresses for subscriptions, in turn helping them to monetise their blogging platform by building a list.

Citrus Island has a lot going for it. It has simple and fresh colours that do not offend the reader, and these work well together.
